All In Presents: Xani (solo) & STAV

All In is a new organisation with the goal of creating a more inclusive environment for musicians and audience members in the Melbourne jazz and improvised music scene. For this night of the All In Residency, we are presenting Xani and STAV. These events locations alternate monthly between The Jazz Lab and The Brunswick Green. This month it will be at The Brunswick Green.

Xani (solo)(8:30pm)

Electric violinist and improvising musician, Xani Kolac, will perform solo using live looping and electronic effects. Xani performs regularly with drums/violin duo, The Twoks, has played with artists such as Tim Rogers, Clare Bowditch and Paul Grabowsky and works as a music director in theatre. Currently, Xani is working on a project called, SPIRE, celebrating women and diversity in music.

Stav (9:30pm)

Soulful and honest, STAV (Stav Shaul) writes thoughtful, uplifting songs in English, French and Hebrew with bursts of innovative rhythmic fire. Folk and a hint of something else, she has a compelling ability to tell a story in song. Tears and laughter are the main ingredients in the songwriting process. An expressive voice and a natural affinity for guitar, live performance brings this songwriter's introspection, playfulness and raw passion to life.

She is the Folk Alliance 'Young Artist of the Year' 2018. Celebrating the release of debut album 'The Horizon Line' in 2016, she toured Australia’s East-Coast with her 4-piece band from Melbourne to the Bello Winter Music Festival. The 9-track album explores her experience as a person between cultures. This year has seen her launching into the international scene as a solo artist, performing in Barcelona and France, as well as in Melbourne where she is currently based. For this performance she will be joined by Isaac Gunnoo the double bass.

This performance will take place on land belonging to Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We would like to pay our respects to elders past and present.
