Melbourne saxophonist Jared Becker returns to The Brunswick Green for a debut performance with his new quartet, presenting two sets of original contemporary jazz alongside choice standards from the American Songbook.
Joining him on the bandstand are friends and maestros Matt Steele (piano), Robbie Finch (double bass), and Luke Andreson (drums). Jared’s compositions emphasise the thematic, the spiritual, and the emotive, using open forms that invite the ensemble to build, react, and tell stories through improvisation. Standards will include selections from the likes of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Charles Mingus.
Doors: 7:30pm | Music: 8:00pm | Entry: $20
